Tawainga has big ideas on solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges. These include unique solutions to addressing soil erosion, a major challenge that paralyzes the economy in Haiti. The fields of sciences and arts are related.
A music composer who writes beautiful and lyrical music and dances for a wide range of instrumentation. My compositions include music for wind symphony, swing band, solo piano, piano duo, flute and songs. I invite you to preform Tawainga’s music and commission music composition by Tawainga.

For the longest time I had always known Tawainga as a fellow Rotarian dedicated to humanitarian causes and very passionate about the innovative grass project he is spear heading to reduce the devastating soil erosion in Haiti. When he approached me and said he wanted to show me a music score, I was intrigued by the idea. Multi-talented as I had known him, I anxiously waited to see what he would do with band music. The suspense ended a few weeks later when he handed me the score he was still composing. My immediate reaction was this was not hobby music but indeed an outstanding composer, and perhaps what I would have expected from Tawainga.

World Band Director
Opportunities to work with composers are rare and my collaborative work with Dr Tawainga Katsvairo on art songs has been an absolute delight. His music includes diverse repertoire on relevant topics and subjects which listeners can identify with. In addition, his music is innovative and full of complexities that bring new sounds to the 21st century art-song repertoire.
I am excited about this new music and look forward to recording these beautiful songs so they can be shared with the greater audience as CDs.

Because I was so inspired by the work being done in Haiti, I immediately joined the initiative. To help spread awareness, I gave an in-class presentation on the project at Florida State University.
